Starbase Atlantis Program

The Starbase Atlantis Program is a partnership between the United States Navy and the National School District. This dedicated partnership in support of science education began seven years ago. This program offers fifth grade students the opportunity to attend five days of hands-on learning experiences that teaches scientific and mathematical principals.

Children and their teachers benefit by touring Navy facilities, including a Navy ship and the Naval Oceanographic Center. Students learn how airplanes fly, do hands-on science experiences, fly computer flight simulation programs, and build and launch their own rockets. In addition students learn about the many opportunities for careers in science. Click here to learn what students and parents are saying about their experience with Starbase Atlantis.
