 The California Content Standards were created to encourage the highest achievement of every student by defining the knowledge, concepts and skills that students should acquire at each grade level. Each standard describes the content students need to master by the end of each grade level. Parents can also help monitor their child's academic progress. Help each student be accountable for what he /she needs to learn by using the Kid-Friendly ELA Language Arts and Math Standards found below. Compare the expectations for each area (Word Study & Vocabulary Development, Reading Comprehension, Literary Response and Analysis, Writing Strategies, Writing Applications, Listening and Speaking) across the grade levels.
