Welcome to my 4th to 6th Grade Reading Lab Webpages! The Teacher I taught a child to read today Aren't I a lucky soul; And now a world has opened up The child can now be whole. He'll run and play as others do, But more will be his call; By opening up a book at play, He'll stand so sure and tall. A preacher, teacher, scientist, perhaps, Someday his task will be; But it all began one simple day, When I taught Joe how to read. (Author unknown) I am Mrs. Rodecker and I have been the 4th to 6th grade Reading Resource Teacher at Olivewood School since 2000. This year I am teaching a 4/5th grade ELD support group, as well as 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Reading Lab groups. We are also fortunate to have Mrs. Richardson who works with grades 3 through 6 as a Reading Impact Teacher in Room 3A. * * * * * * * Students in grades 4 through 6 who attend Reading Lab rotate through three activities. They spend 30 minutes in small group instruction with me and 30 minutes using the computers working on either Successmaker or Scholastic's Read About and then practice fluency. During small group instruction, we work on developing comprehension skills, vocabulary, and reading strategies in order to be come strong independent readers. Please visit my other webpages to find out what is happening and what the students are learning in each of my groups. |
