Reading is fundamental! Reading is one of those skills that helps students access information in every other subject taught in school. Students who are strong readers have a better chance of doing well in math, science, social studies, writing, and just about any other topic you can think of. While we spend a significant amount of time working on developing successful reading strategies in Room 23, reading at home is just as important. Please make sure you have a quiet, comfortable place for your child to read.
It can be difficult to provide the large number of books necessary for your child to maintain interest in reading at home. Thankfully, we have a world class library right here in National City. The National City Library has an amazing selection of children's books! PLEASE take advantage of this excellent resource so close to home. How much does it cost to check out a large stack of books for your child? NOTHING! It's FREE! So let's make a promise to our kids to support their reading at home by regularly visiting the library, and providing a good place for them to READ READ READ.
