Before and After School Programs
After School  |  Before School  |  Safety Rules

The National School District is committed to opening community schools before and after school hours. We provide a safe place for our students to experience academic enrichment, homework help, and recreational activities during the hours that most parents work.

The National School District Before and After School Programs are provided by the National City Public Library and funded by the After School Education and Safety Program, administered by the California Department of Education.  In order for the district to receive these funds, students should attend the program everyday for the full range of hours it is offered.  If there is a need for your child to be released early or to arrive late to the program, you must fill out an Early Release or Late Arrival Modified Attendance form.

After School Program: WINGS - "Winners Growing Strong"

State Superintendent Jack O'Connell visited the WINGS Program and was serenaded by mariachi students. He was delighted to see the balance of academic and enrichment activities available to all district students after school.

Before School Program

The National City Public Library also provides the Before School Program for district students. Children in grades kindergarten - 6th are invited and encouraged to attend. Each school opens its auditorium ninety minutes before classes begin. All students have an opportunity to participate in the Skillastics physical fitness program which utilizes fun movement games with motivational music.  All activities are carried out in a well-supervised setting. Registration forms are available before and after school in the auditoriums of each school. Or you may use the links above to download and print out the forms.

National School District's Before and After School Program Safety Rules

Our programs provide a safe place at all school sites where children can learn new skills, reinforce academic skills and participate in age-suitable recreation and social skills building activities which compliment the regular school program. Participants are expected to follow all safety rules which are posted at the school. These rules are consistent with rules students are expected to follow during regular school hours.

If you would like further information, please call Clint Taylor, Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator, at (619) 336-7738, or Tamarie Tigh, National City Public Library WINGS Administrator at (619) 470-5866.
